The 2024 FOBISIA Student Leadership Conference was an eye-opening and highly beneficial opportunity that we, as young KTJ leaders, were very thankful to attend. The conference was hosted at the Prince of Wales Island International School in Penang.

FLC offered a surplus of activities and opportunities that challenged the inner qualities and characteristics that make up the young leaders of KTJ. These activities included giving back to Penang’s community via beach cleanups and socialising with refugees; inspirational and pathos-rich talks from young change makers and experienced leaders; tackling real-life decisions and sustainable solutions for the Greenlandic community of Qaanaaq which is threatened by climate change; and a grand and avant-garde social night to celebrate with the other conference participants.

The event also boasted guest speakers from around the globe, including the humanitarian front-liner, Linda Cruse, who was the founder of the Race4Good; Melati Wijsen, founder of youth enrichment programme Youthtopia, who has presented in front of the United Nations and has been a change maker since she was 12; and Malaysia’s very own Michael Teoh from Thriving Talents. These amazing speakers did not fail to bestow us with memorable, lifelong advice crucial to our development as future leaders of the world.
