At KTJ, we strive to ensure our students get a well-rounded, integrated education at all stages of their learning journey with us.

As such, our rigorous academic syllabus is complemented by over 60 diverse and exciting co-curricular activities (CCAs).

These CCAs supplement classroom learning and help students develop a sense of belonging, encourage personal development, build resilience and instil team spirit.

CCAs also allows our students to develop and pursue their interests and passions, and inspires them to take up new and exciting activities as well.

CCAs in Early Years

Our Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) programme has been carefully designed to enable our little learners to flourish. We offer a variety of topics from dancing and movement to outdoor adventures.

As our Nursery children are still very young and are becoming familiar with their new school life at KTJ, they have CCAs during the school day. This ensures they are being exposed to all the fun learning opportunities whilst balancing their wellbeing. Nursery children are collected from school at 2.15 p.m.

For our students in Reception, our CCA programme works a little differently to help prepare the children for Year 1. We want to gradually introduce aspects of the Key Stage 1 curriculum into their routines, provide them with the opportunities to spend time with different teachers and to enhance their confidence at KTJ. This also helps to prepare the children to experience longer days at school and build some resilience to engage in learning for longer periods of time.

Please see the timetable below that outlines the gradual increase of CCAs that are on offer to Reception throughout the year that they can select.

CCAs in Key Stage 1 and 2

At the heart of our CCA programme is the belief that learning extends beyond the classroom. Through diverse opportunities in arts and culture, community service, science and technology, and sports, students are empowered to explore their passions, embrace challenges, and develop confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose.

Examples of CCA options available to our Key Stage 1 and 2 students include:

  • Over 10 sports options, including Football, Golf, Gymnastics, In-line Skating, and Wall Climbing.
  • Over 10 expressive arts options, including 3D Pen Art, Dance, Drama, Musical Theatre, and Theatre Design.
  • A range of other interest-based options, including Agama, Forest School, LEGO, Maths Masters, and Robotics.

As an added advantage, our close links with the Secondary School enable us to take advantage of the resources and facilities that are available throughout the KTJ campus. These include an indoor climbing wall, 25 metre swimming pool, squash courts and other sports facilities, as well as the Tunku Ja'afar Auditorium, music studios and design technology classrooms.

Most activities within our CCA program are included as part of our school fees and are available to all our students in Year 1 to Year 6.

Beyond the Classroom

At our School, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Residential experiences play an important role in developing independence, resilience, teamwork, and confidence, providing students with memorable opportunities to challenge themselves and grow.

Students in Years 3–6 take part in a progressive residential programme that increases in length and challenge each year. Year 3 students enjoy an exciting one-night residential, often their first experience away from home, while each subsequent year builds on this foundation, culminating in a four-night residential in Year 6. Through these experiences, students strengthen friendships, develop life skills, embrace new challenges, and create lasting memories in a supportive environment.

Beyond year-group residentials, selected students may have the opportunity to represent the School at prestigious international events such as the FOBISIA Primary Games and the FOBISIA Drama Festival. These unique experiences enable students to collaborate with peers from leading international schools across Asia, celebrate their talents, broaden their horizons, and develop a global perspective.
