As one of Malaysia’s premier, non-profit schools, Kolej Tuanku Jaafar (KTJ) is incredibly proud to celebrate 30 years of holistic, British-style education.

KTJ’s 30th Anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect upon our rich history and to feel a sense of pride for what has been accomplished so far. We are more than the sum of our parts, thanks to the vision of our Trustees, the dedication of staff, the passions of students and alumni, and the unwavering support of parents. All those who have walked our corridors, sweated on our fields, spoken up for the values of KTJ, have helped to make us what we are.

Whilst we were unable to mark our 30th Anniversary with a special event. Our film, Let's Make It With KTJ, celebrates those who were there from the very beginning - our beloved founders...

Our history

Our history of high-quality education began in June 1989, when siblings of the Negeri Sembilan Royal Family officially launched the School. A tree planting ceremony officiated by Dennis Thatcher, the husband of the former UK Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, marked the laying of our foundations. The symbolic tree still stands today at the entrance of our school and features on the KTJ crest. By January 1991, the construction of the School was completed and we welcomed the pioneering batch of just over 100 students to begin their educational journey at KTJ.
